I am looking at possibly using this bullet for practice loads in my Ruger 260 Rem. I don't think it is an Interlock. I would like to know if this bullet would hold together well enough for a youth hunting load (whitetail) launched at under 2800 fps for sure and maybe under 2600 fps? If it truely is meant for varmits and won't hold up well enough for deer then I will likely go with the 129 gr. Interlock Spire for everything. I am just looking for a low cost lighter weight bullet for cheaper and lighter recoil practice for my girls and wife. Thanks, Mark in GA

Mark, you might ask Vapodog; I think he may have some experience with the bullet in question. friar Our liberties we prize, and our rights we will maintain.

Mark, My first pick out of my gun rack every year, and the rifle I carry deer hunting the most.... is a 260 Remington, with a 100 grain Hornady SP, in a Ruger 77 Mk 2, stainless with a boyd's grey laminate stock and a Leupold 3 x 9 scope with a target dot... The load is 43.5 grains of IMR 4064, Winchester cases necked down to 260...and a CCI Large Rifle Primer... I have a second rifle in the same set up, but with a 4 x scope, set up for the 129 Hornady SP... I usually carry the 100 grain Load tho... because it works and the recoil is light enough at 4 power, I have watched every deer I have taken ( 5 )... drop instantly, and never lost sight picture of the animal.... The 100 Grain SP Hornady, does zero meat damage, which can not be said for the Nosler Ballistic Tip... and has shown quicker killing power than the 100 grain Partition.... the partition is too tough for oregon sized or GA sized deer....the 100 grain Hornady is Perfect....and it is superior to the 100 grain HP Sierra which comes in second place as the most effective of the batch.... The MV with my load is 3350 fps out of the Ruger's 22 inch barrel...zeroed 3.5 inches high at 100 yds, I have dropped game at 100 to 300 yds, and all were straight down, instant kills... It is my FIRST choice for deer or antelope.. and that is out of having access to a lot of rifles and handloading, so I have access to a lot of choices....the 100 grain Hornady SP and my 260 are my FIRST and most commonly used choice... And as I say, recoil is light enough, I watch the game fall in the scope sight picture, on my Leupold when it is on 4 power... YOur instincts serve you well on this choice, YOUNG SKYWALKER! cheers and good luck.. seafire

While I'm a fan of Hornady's interlock for deer and pronghorns I've never used this bullet. I'm using 120 grain Northforks in all my .264 calibers now. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Fantastic bullet Used at up to 3,300fps from my 6.5x57R and held together with excellent results on game. One of my all time favourite bullets. It will be absolutely stunning at 2,800fps when shot into the vitals. I have used the same non interlocked design in 22, 243, 7x57 and 30cal (130gr) they work extremely well indeed.
