I have been using h380 in my 22-250 with a 50 grn bullet, only problem is the load works great when the loads have been sitting outside and have cooled to below 50 degrees or so, with the gun next to me in the truck, and the heater on, if I shoot right away I get a sticky bolt, so I am looking for something that will work from 90 degrees all the way down to the low teens. after doing alot of research it seems like 3031 will give me just as much performance and accuracy and give me some temp stability. I want a powder that can put me well into the 3800fps range with a 50grn bullet, but have accuracy and temp stability, is 3031 my best choice??

Varget is not very temp sensitive but batch to batch consistency can be a little different.

I also concer that varget is a nice choice! You can get over3500fps to a little over 3800fps. Any animal will never know the differenc on how fast the bullet is going when its dead. The splat as good at 2800fps.Your just wearing your barrel out faster for know reason!I,m sure you,ll be happy with varget, and try some of those Speer 50gr. TNT HP. They will do a super blapping job on anything you shoot. vangunsmith

If you would like to stay with a ball powder Ramshot Hunter is pretty good. I get better accuracy as I get close to max loads. Very easy to measure decent velocities and great accuracy.

If you want to use a stick powder its hard to beat H4895, Benchmark or Varget.
