Yep.. shoulda rat-holed more of it. It was a favorite of mine also.
H-450 and W-785 were different lots of the same powder, both have been gone for quite a while now..
The Winchester powder that might be close is W-780. It is still available.. how much longer, who knows.

Why do they call it common sense, when it is so uncommon??

W780 is a Winchester powder it won`t be on the AA site. Try Hodgdons web site, they distrubute Win powders and list it with all bullet wgts in the 264 mag

Too fast for anything but 100 grainers in a .264. Try US 869 with 130-140 grain bullets.

As to H-450, there were two lots of surplus powder floating around, both with the WC-852 designation. The two lots were VERY different. The actual WC-852 was the military version of H-380. However, the "slow" lot of WC-852 was almost certainly H-450 (as all of these powders come out of the St. Marks, Florida ball powder plant). I sincerely doubt that there is any of this "slow" lot still available, but should you run into some, my guess is that it will perform very much like H-450.

I've used a good bit of H-450 and it was a favorite in my 243Wins with 90gr & 90+gr bullets. Great Powder with no signs of Erratic Pressure Spiking.

I remember the fool belk claiming it was Ka-Booming 243Wins which is why they pulled it. Claimed he had "seen" a lot of them. rotflmo

I'm having to use a 3' Drop Tube and Powder considered way too slow to get the old 243Wins ripping along now. However, I was buring-up some IMR-4831 in a 243Win with 90gr Bullets last year and had some right fine groups which surprised me. Hadn't thought it would do that well, but it sure did fine. No idea what the Velocity was, but they did reach the Target. Wink
