I'm looking for a load for savage 1/9 twist varmint barrel. I've found some good loads for 69 matchkings, but need some popular loads for 52 matchking and 50 vmax.

I'm using lake city brass and have winchester small rifle primers and cci br 450 primers on hand. The only powder I have on hand is h4895, varget, and h335, but I'm open to any advice here. So hit me with the loads including primers please.

thanks

H 335... 25 to 27 grains depending on your choice of accuracy and velocity...

Varget 27.5 grains...

H 4895.. I hate that powder...

I've had good success with both of those bullets in my savage rifles. I was using LC brass and CCI400 primers and IMR3031 powder. For the 50gr vmax I found 25gr to be optimal. For the 52gr mk I used 24.5gr powder. Both will group near .25" at 100yds in my savage 10flp .223. Varget would likely be good too but I haven't tried it for these bullets.

I like 26grs of H4895 with Win or Fed Match primers with the Sierra. Some like Varget, but I cant get it to shoot with velocity or accuracy in 4 different cartridges. I have 2 different .223s and they both like 40 and 55gr V-Maxes and hate the 50 grainer.

With 50s & 52s, Benchmark. H335 is very very close but more temperature sensitive. If you really want the cats ass with 50s go for VV 133.

popcorn27gr. of 2520 has worked great with bullets from 45gr. to 60gr. Lighter charges have done just as good with bullets up to and including 80 gr in the Stevens and Savage. Now the heavier bullets do not work well in the Ruger #1 with the slower twist. thumbroger thumb

I shoot 24.7 grains of Benchmark in a CZ528 with the Hornady 50 grain SXSP (poor man's vmax) and the results are outstanding. Fool around with Benchmark, it is perfect for 50 grainers.
