I am very new to the reloading experience, but have had pretty good success working up a load for my 470. However recently I have had a problem reloading 450/400 ammmo. I'm sure there is an easy explanation from a more experience reloader. my boswell 450/400 barrels sluged to shot .408 dia bullet. Reloading new brass (Hornady)with a light crimp is a cinch, however the second reload of any used brass the bullet slips into the casing before it crimps satisfactorily. Also what technique is best to slug the barrels. there seems to be quite a bit of variability and would want to be sure the bullets used would be safe to shoot. Thanks for any tips or references RW Taylor

On the surface, it seems that your brass is not being adequately resized. What are the comparison measurements of the case neck O.D. before and after sizing?

Are you Full Length resizing? Who made your dies? Are you using LEE collet dies?

Quick fix after you decap the cases remove the expander plug and resize. You should have plenty of grip. Do not crimp.

Please contact me directly if I may be of assistance. rkmojo@aol.com

I would ALWAYS crimp that cartridge but only with a Lee Factory Crimp Die.
