Craven I have successfully used this combo with the old X's on two safaris and the new TSX this past year. I think you will find it will do everything you need to do with a 35 Whelen. Complete penetration on the largest of plains game, even at racking angles. My load is 61.5 grain of Reloader 15 over the 225 TSX. In my 22" barreled rifle I get 2625 fps and in my 24" I get 2690 fps. Accuracy is 1" for three shots out of both rifles. This is a max load in one of the rifles, so please start 5% below this and work your way up. Thanks for the info Big Bullet, have you use IMR 4064 with any loads? Craven

Craven, I have used IMR-4064, and for my rifles it seems to reach max pressures before the top velocity is attained. IMR 4320 is an excellent powder for this 225 grain TSX though, I have been slowly moving away from the IMR powders in favor of Allient and Hodgdon. I haved used IMR 4064, but only on 250 grain Speers. Thanks again Big Bullet for all the info, and to answer a question you asked a while ago I will be near Mokopane with Tumuga Hunting. I just spent the last few days with my PH and outfitter here in S. Fla. I cant wait for June to get here. Craven

Craven, Heres wishing you a successful safari! June should be a wonderful time of year to hunt there. You will wish the time passes fast until you get there, then you want to slow and last as long as possible. I finally made it to the range and did some testing. It seems that my Remington likes the hot stuff, the best group was fired with 57gr of IMR 4064 the group measured just over 1/2 an inch with 4 rounds fired. I dont have a crono so I dont know how fast but with no pressure signs and great accuracy I'm not that worried about the speed. I would still like to know anyway. Craven
