Can I use Rem. 1 1/2 primers in the .357 magnum?
I have a thousand Remington #1 1/2 primers. I intended to use them for a .357 Magnum, but I have conflicting information about which primers to use. I initially found that I needed small pistol primers, then I found in some other manuals that I needed to use magnum small pistol primers. The load variations between the data is minimal. Let me know your experiences or if I should try to return the unopened 1,000 brick of primers. I intend to load for plinking and heavy hunting loads, using Blue Dot and Unique for light loads, H110 or AA #9 for heavy loads. Thanks for the help.

Reliability is the issue. You should have no problem with your Blue Dot and Unique loads.

I use them all the time for light loads with Bullseye and Titegroup. No problems,

Powder choice is a major determinant as to which primer, magnum or standard, is used. Be guided by the loading manual. IIRC, H110 likes a magnum primer and Unique wants a standard; don't know about the AA#9 or Blue Dot. Use the primer recommended in your manuals for each individual powder.
