Try ~25 gr of H4895 with a 55 gr Nosler BT in your 223. Mine loves it!

4895 is a very versatile powder.
You can use it in all the calibers mentioned.

I have a 7X57 that loves it.

I totaly agree with Ol'Joe.

Just finished load testing my new 223 with H4895 (here in Oz it is ADI 2206H).

25gr of powder and Nosler 55 BT's are a winning combo.

Cheers,
Boof...

It works great in every cartridge you listed. The most accurate powder I've found in 30-30 win. In the 300 WSM you can make 150s and 165s scream w/ H4895. .308 does good w/ 150s.

Good Luck!

It works great in all those cartridges you listed! It is no more nor less temperature sensitive than any other DuPont/IMR type of tubular, extruded powder.

You need to recall that 4895 was the ORIGINAL powder used in the US .30 M2 Ball ammo, before the developmenmt of ball powders by Olin. Its characteristics are those of the powders of that era. (Pre-WWII.)

Near max loads per the Hodgdon website (54 gr. with 165's IIRC) and 150-165 grain SMK's are my light accuracy loads for my 300WSM. Velocity is less than max, but still respectable...

PLus this is the powder Hodgdon uses for its published youth loads...down to 60% of max in any cartridge it is listed for. They work well...just don't have enough pressure to always expand the cases leaving them sooty to near the base about 2/3 of the time.

Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.

Works beautiful in 223 !

Slightly under max loads usually best for accuracy ( .5 gr. or so )
I am currently loving this stuff under 60 gr. TAP bullets, 25.5 gr. at a time with Win. primers in LC brass.
