I've shot more deer with the 150 grain Speer spitzer on top of a mild load of 57.5 grains of IMR 4350 than any other and were talking truckloads here.

I know that 4895 is one of the better powders for the '06 (in addition to 4350), but i've had excellent results with 4064 and 150's. 51-53grs has always given me good groups with velocities in the 2900 fps +/- range.

I got good results with most powders back when I was loading the 30-06 with 150 gr bullets, including IMR-4985, IMR-4064, IMR-4350 and Reloder 15. But my best accuracy and velocity was with Accurate 2700, with maximum loads around an inch and chrongraphing almost 2900 fps out of a 20 inch barrel. Haven't heard of very many people using Accurate 2700 in their '06's, but it sure worked in mine.

Bullets are pretty worthless. All they do is hang around waiting to get loaded.

The one I can buy the cheapest. I brought a bunch of imr 4064 at 6bucks a lb shot that all up. Then I got a hold of a bunch of bal c2 at 5bucks a lb.shot that all up. As in a bunch I am talking 30 to 40lbs of the stuff.

Now I am shooting surplus wc844 and wc852 they work fine also. The only thing I can say is I wish I would of had the money to buy hundreds of lbs at the right price instead of 30 or 40 lbs.

In the Browning Continental o/u the IMR 4320 and 4350 were tied for accuracy and regulation.

I started off reloading 30-06 and used 4064. Some 37 years later,my gunsmith/friend showed me in his old Lyman manual that 4350 was listed as the accuracy powder. He further elaborated that it is THE ONE. I tried it and 4064 does better in my gun.

For a long time I thought that IMR 4064 was best for 150 gr. bullets in the 30-06. But recently I tried H 414, and I now think it may be best, at least in my rifle.

Varget gave excellent accuracy in my rifle with 150 gr. bullets, but at a sacrifice of about 150 f.p.s. of velocity from what I can get with IMR 4064 or H 414.

Any of you ever tried H380 w/ the 150s?

Hogdons website shows it getting over 3000 fps w/ reasonable pressures. I have only used H380 in 30-30 win and some 180grn 30-06 loads.

Might be a good powder to try.

My favorite load for the 30/06 is 51.2gr. or 52.0gr. of IMR4064 with a 150gr. bullet. Every rifle in this caliber in which I have used either of these loads have shot at least MOA.

I have to go along with 52 gr of IMR4064. That load has shot well in every '06 I've tried it in. IMR4350 does provide better velocity, though.
