I've been using Imperial Sizing Die Wax for several years now and it does a great job....I've been wiping the wax off the case with a soft paper Towel and althought it does a good job, its very slow and time consuming....I was wondering if any of you have any quick and easy methods of getting the wax off your cases without all the hassel?????

If I have a large number to clean I put them in a baking pan and spray them with carburetor cleaner. It cuts the wax and dries fast. You could lay them out on newspaper and do it just as easy.

I.ve been using Imperial for 20 years. After sizing, I hold them with an old hand towel while I clean the primer pockets. By the time I've cleaned the pockets the lube is gone. You should use the Imperial very sparingly. Hot soap and water will also work fine.

I do not want any lube on my cases when I am neck sizeing or fireing my rounds.I dont want to use media to remove the lube because this will contaminate it and relube other cases. What I do is put them in a bucket with hot water and soap and use my hands to swirl them and rub the lube off.It usually takes 10 minutes before I feel the sqeak and clean between my fingertips. Now that I bought a rotary tumbler I might buy an extra rubber bowl and let the tumbler work for me.I find that doing this further cleans the cases inside and out.Once done I use compressed air to blow the water out and run them in the vibratory tumbler to further dry them and get them ready to reload right then.

I drop them back in the tumbler for 10 minutes.

I use gear oil 80/90 to lube; I roll cases for a few seconds on a cloth soaked in solvent (I open all windows), then I dip collets for a few seconds in a small (italian Wink ) coffe cup half full of solvent and then I drop them back in the tumbler for 4-5 minutes; I agree with Shootaway; I don't want to contaminate media with lube.

ncvarhtr,

I soak them in a jar of acetone for a few minutes (5 mins is plenty), then give it a couple of swirls in the bottle, then pour out the acetone back into the original container using a funnel which catches all the cases & lets the acetone drain off for reuse again.

I use a glass pickle jar of reasonable size which will hold about 20 375 H&H cases.

I did find that if I did not let it soak the Imperial wax was still present on the cases. I don't like to tumble again because the tumbler media puts dust on the cases (I'm told Hornady's media does not but I have not tried it yet) & even tumbled cases I put through the acetone treatment.

Then I let the cases air dray or if in a hurry give em a blast with a old hairdryer.

Use in a well ventilated place of course.

I do it pretty much like Dwight does except I have them in an old metal collander and shake them around as I spray them.
Something else that I've found is that for tumbling media I use the crushed walnut shell from Pet's Mart that they sell as stuff for the bottom of bird cages. I put a tiny bit of jewler's rouge in with it and it does real well.

The key word is use Imperial die wax "sparingly." The little that remains is easily and quickly removed with an old T-shirt.

I would hate myself if one of those handloaded big game rounds didn't go bang cause I was spraying solvent all over them trying to make a simple job go even quicker.

I have used lighter fluid with RCBS sizing paste with good results. Just put a some on a soft rag and wipe off the lube, works wonders with little effort. I havent tried the sizing wax yet but will soon.

Common 90% isopropyl alcohol will remove it.
Just rinse the cases a few minute or so and drain off the alcohol.
Then roll the cases in an old towel. Place the cases mouth down in a loading block and place in front of a fan. The alcohol will evaporate within 30 mins and you can go back to loading.

Wipe it off simply with a terry towel. Beware of the solvent thing, w/ Imperial used sparingly as previously mentioned, it is a no brainer. By the time the primer pockets are cleaned the lube removal thing is over.....nothing new.
