I cant find a reloading data for this bullet in a 308. i want the recommended COAL. My rifle has a super long throat so I can go as far as i want without hitting the lands but it should have a certain amount of "grip" of the bullet right? it will change the pressure of the load also?

Generally you want to be at least a bullet diameter into the case.

Love shooting precision and long range. Big bores too!

Isn't that the 'design' bullet weight for the M1 carbine? It should work, right?

trashcanman, I have heard of folks who load right out with just enough bullet in the case neck to keep it in place and if I recall, they got good accuracy. Speer No10 Reloading Manual gives loads for both 100gr and 110gr bullets. IMR4227 29gr for 2469fps with the 110gr. IMR3031 49gr gives 3246fps with a 110gr spire point. Hope that helps.

LOL no no, I thought the post was about bullet size&type. 110Gr VMAX would make a "killer" load for my M1 Carbine for coyotes! I bet I could get it moving but maybe not enough to expand. Frowner

Probably where the lines got crossed is that the .308 cal is your ".30" cal like you 30-06, 308 win, 30 carbine, these all shoot your .308" bullet Wink I know it dose get confusing when someone talks "308" a lot of people connect it with the 308 Winchester camberingWink

Yes the 110Gr is the bullet weight design for the M1 Carbine. I have used IMR 4227 and was not all that impressed. Groups were so huge! So I m now trying Unique and H110. I will let you know how it turns out when I can get back to the range......and its snowing again so I need to pack the snowshoes!

You can shoot up to a 130GR Cast bullet with the little carbine, and a 115GR Copper jacket. I wonder if they make a 85-90GR for the 30cal? I do know they make a 100 but I have yet to try it.
Shoot true and down them hard!

OK, I have edited my post to read;

That's 308 Winchester.

James Kain, the 30 carbine loads give 15gr IMR 4227 at 1883fps for 110gr bullets and 15.5gr at 1946fps for 100gr. Sorry for the confusing post. Confused

Thanks 303, I have been doing resurch on the m1 carbine and from what I m told and personaly found out that the IMR4227 is not the best for it. But others like H110 and such are better for groups.

Oh yes Varget is very nice works better in most of the other cals then what I got Frowner but still works. I didnt get a chance to try it in my 308 before I got rid of it. But no matter it dose well in my 30-06 and my 6.5X55 but they really like slower burning powders.

Varget is one of those powders that you must try! clap

hodgdon reloading data center says that I can get 3350 fps with 3031 in a .308 with 110 grain bullets. Misprint? At maximum anyways

Thats not unbelievable...a 243 can do 3100 fps with the same weight bullet and you have a big increase in bore diameter. Of course the BC sucks and the range won't be near as good, but that sounds like about a max 308 load to me.
