Ordered a special Hornady shellholder -- no. 42, for .405 Winchester -- and it doesn't fit the ram of my RCBS Rockchucker. I swear I have used a mixture of Lee, Lyman, RCBS, Pacific and Hornady shellholders for years with never an issue until now.

I sure hope you contacted Hornady before posting here....They are a (very good) company of people that can make a mistake.....but they will correct it for you pronto!

Vapo, I did send Hornady an e-mail on this. Will report on how they respond. I tried three other Hornady shellholders I have on hand, and two of them fit fin. The No. 49 -- for 8mm Lebel, did not. The offending holders do snap into the Lee hand press, but it's not a tool I prefer to use.

There are tolerances in shell holders and some I have don't fit either; which is why I keep a plastic hammer next to my presses. Whack it in.

I have used Hornady equipment in the past and own a LNL progressive, but I think I will use either RCBS or Redding if I buy any more dies and shellholders. I have a set of Hornady New Dimension dies for my 22/250Rem that will stick a case every two or three cartridges. I replaced them with a set of RCBS that I bought off a buddy and they never stick one. I know Hornady will stand behind their products but I don't need the hassle.

Guys, the Hornady tech told me that at .437, the stem on that shellholder was .002 out of spec, which is .435. They are sending me a replacement.
