Just looking for other peoples opinions and experiences with these bullets. I'm currently in the process of working up some new loads for my Rem 700vls using the Sierra 55gr Blitzkings.

I wasn't aware that Sierra was makeing a 55 for the 243.
You sure your 243 wasn't meant to be 22-250?Either that or I gotta get caught up on my bullets. Which sure as heck could be.

FYI-I've shot the 55 Noz in my 6/06 and they've worked great.

I can't say, having tried only the Noslers so far. However, I can say that the Nosler 55 grain B.Tip is absolutely amazing, both in my .243 HB and in a friend's .243 AI sporter. It does even better than the 70 grain B.Tip, which itself is outstanding -- a result I didn't expect.

Having said that, Sierras have always performed well for me with few exceptions. I would expect their competing bullet to average as good as the Nosler, with individual guns and loads showing preference for one over the other. You'll just have to try them to see.

What velocities do you get with the 55 grains bullets in .243 win?

The Noslers have a slight boattail, which aids in seating them into the case. I doubt whether a boattail as rebated as that one is would help in long range performance over a flat based bullet, like the Blitzking.

I think Blitzking is a cool name!

For your fastest load, use H380, in 51 to 53 grains in most 24 inch barreled guns. Nosler lists the accuracy load to be 53 grains of H380. Use a CCI primer if you can. Don't use WLR's, unless you want large groups.

Varget will work well to push the 55 grainers. Around 45 grains should get you near 4000 fps. IMR 3031 is also an excellent powder for these bullets in the .243 win.

SEAT YOUR BULLETS DEEP IF YOU WANT TO SHOOT ACCURATELY. If you don't believe me on that, call Sierra and they'll tell you the same thing. Then call Hornady to be really sure. These light, fast varmint bullets need bearing surface.

Good luck,

I've seated them at 2.597" with 43gr of AR2208 (thats ADI Powder made in Australia)this load is supposed to fly out at just under 4000. Is it true that I'll get better accuracy by loading these light bullets a bit slower and is my seating depth deep enough?

Your seating depth is definitely good. That's about where I'd put it. That powder you're mentioning is the same powder as Varget, if I'm not mistaken. Varget is made in Australia. Is it an extruded, grayish powder with a slight scent of acetone?

The max charge of Varget is 45 grains with this bullet, but of course you'd want to be absolutely certain of the equivalence before proceeding.

My 243 with a 26" barrel will get slightly over 4000fps with the 55gr Ballistic Tip. I use both the 55grBT and the 75gr V-Max but can't remember if the 55gr load is H380 or H4895. The results on prarie dogs is simply amazing.

I can't recall my exact load (it was only three weeks ago, not three decades ago, or I could have told you!). But I did use IMR4895 chronographed just under or just over (?) 4000 fps. Anyway, it shot great and went fast, so I stopped there. This was in a 24 inch barrel.

My friend's .243 AI is in a 23" sporter, and he worked up as high as about 4250 with Reloder 15, but liked the groups better in the 4150 area.

These were both with 55 grain Noslers.
