Found a .222 BSA Hunter with 1-in-14 twist, with additional new barrel.

Wonder if the twist will stabilize the longer FMJBT 55grainer(which I can get cheap)?

I don't know how long that bullet is but if you can measure it against a 60gr Nosler partition flat base and it is as long or longer then the answer is no. My 1in14 222 will stabilise standard SP BT 55gr but not the 60gr partition.

1894,

Thanks for reply, I don't have a Nosler Partition 60grain or any info on it.

But I do have the length of my FMJBT 55grain, it's 0.744"~0.746" long

A Nosler BT 50 gr measures 0.790" so you shouldn't have much trouble with the shorter 55 FMJBT if you can shoot that bullet. Try it, the target will tell you the story. Optimum twist for a 0.750" is 1-12. I've shot 60 gr Hornady SP's in several 1-14 twist 223, 22-250, and 220 Swifts with excellent accuracy. 60 Hornady HP's started to get a bit lopsided.

The bullet will work, but since the .222 is ideal for ranges under 300 yards you will find that a flat base bullet is more accurate than a boat tail bullet. Good Luck
