I am currently beginning to start loading up some 129gr. SST bullets with some R-17 powder. Will be running a model seven. Anyone care to share their loads or experience with a similar combo? Thanks for any information. Thinking of around 42-45gr. charge for the 129 Hornady SST.

Remington model seven 20" barrel, .260 Starline brass Winchester large rifle primers R-17 Loaded up to 44.6gr with no pressure sighns on brass and normal bolt lift. But groups started to open up. Best grouping was at 43.7gr, that averaged .689 at the 100yrd. Average velocity Chrono was right at 2,848 fps. I get better groups with R-15 at around .485", but the average velocity for that load is 2,713 fps. Recoil seams about the same between the two. I'll hunt this R-17 load a season and see how it goes. The extra velocity won't likely matter much for this rifle, as I don't use it where I may shoot more than 200yrds or so. But we will see what terminal difference it may make on deer. Just wanted to post my results in case someone is interested. Probably not alot of fellow .260 shooters out there.
