Can anybody tell me what kind of shell this is and what is was for? The man that gave it to me is in his late 70's and told me his father-in-law used it as a paper weight. He thinks it is from WWI.

On the bottom of the case it says
37-85
9.17
PDPs
94

It measures 94.60mm long and about 36.30mm inside diameter.
Thanks

This is what found on it. The weapon that this round was fired in was referred to as a baby 75 cause the gun used was half the size of the 75mm gun and used as a trench gun against German machine gun nests during WW1.
3,7 cm Hotchkiss
PDPs= Parc d' Artillerie de paris
