What is the distance from bullet base to cannelure on a Woodleigh .366 320gn RN SP? How wide is the cannelure? Woodleigh lists the over all length as 1.323 for it but no information on the cannelure placement. Allen | ||

I have been shooting them for years and I just seat them to the cannalure, both softs and solids and they work in the magazines which actually determines your seating depth in 95% of the rifles used with them, and they chamber well... This bullet is designed for one thing and thats buffalo in the Jesse, so I wouldn't get to technical with them and you will have to use the magazine as your seating gage I betcha, this has worked in every one I have owned.. If however I was to build one on a long action 375 magazine, then I would seat the bullets out as far as a long throat would allow, and ignore the cannalure, its there for no particular valid reason that I can think of, if bullets are moving from recoil I would suggest taking a couple of thousands off your die expander ball and use a powder that comes at least half way up the neck along with a light crimp, that will give you just a little compaction...The 320 gr. Woodleighs are a very accurate bullet as are most round nose bullets, and they apparantly come to rest quicker than a spitzer bullet at close range, making them a decent elephant bullet I am told..
