Not for me at all. I like heavy bullets. These are for varmints; I know, ten guys will chime in here and say that this is all they use. It is not a good idea; try to punch through a bone, meat, or shoulder and see.

good point about it being a varmint bullet. I was reading some old field and stream and it just got my curiosity up. I have used 100gr noslers and 120 gr sierra with out any issues. I guess a head shot would be the way to do it

IMO and that of numbers of deer in the freezer, use a heavier bullet-I use something in the 112 gr range in my 257 Roberts and it is a proven deer round. Have not used the 25 for varmints in that I have something more suitable for my circumstances in the safe

I will load up some test loads with the 87gr for varmints. And Ill keep my 120gr gr sierra for the deer. Thanks Dave

Try some of the Barnes TTSX at 80 grains. You will gain more velocity, still be able to get full penetration, and it should shoot like a laser. Some time in the past I read here that someone was using these 80 grainers in a 257 Weatherby with excellent results

I shot a bunch of Barnes in the 243, what load do you use in the 25/06? Do you use them on deer or other critters

I've used the 100 gr Nosler partition on deer, antelope and bear with excellent results. It performs "bigger" for it's weight than most other bullets. Barnes falls into this "bigger" than weight class too. There are 25 cal bullets out there that you couldn't run fast enough to give them to me for big game. Zeke

I thought I read that Hybrid 100 was a good powder choice fort the 80 gr TTSX bullets so that is what I used in my buddies rifle, but I cannot remember the weight of the charge , sorry.

I am going to load a batch of 117 sierra flat base using the 100V load data is 46 to 50.5grs max 3100f/s i'll shoot across the chrono . I like to shoot 5 round strings, I should get a pretty good idea on performance and accuracy. I haven't decided what I want to do with the 87gr yet
