A friend wants me to load him some 300 rum with the 168 tsx and retumbo. I think I've read where some people have reported that later lots of retumbo seem hotter than earlier lots. What do you guys think of starting at about 98.5 for this combo and working up?? (It should be well below max according to Hogdon but....wanted to check with the guys that have actually worked with it)

I think Retumbo is a great choice buy might not be best for that bullet wt. Try H1000 also. If not loyal to Hodgdon, definitely try Re25.

We load my brothers 300 ultra with 100grs of retumbo with 165gr hornady sst and it shoots great this is in a pre 64 model 70. its a great powder for the 300 ultra but start low
