Not really a reloading question, but thought it would get the most looks here. Anyway, does anyone know of a company that makes a current bolt-action in 7x57 other than Ruger today? I mean something a regular working kinda guy can afford, not a Blaser or an Oberndorf.

Thanks
Wes

Hmm I thought CZ might as well, but couldn't find any listed on their webpage at www.cz-usa.com or on their price list.

Unfortunately CZ stopped producing the 7x57mm in any of its products for the American market. You might keep an eye out on some of the gun auction sites for a CZ 550 American or CZ 550 Full Stock in 7x57, but it seems to be pretty rare you will find one. I own a CZ 550 American and my brother owns a CZ 550 Full Stock, both in 7x57mm and they are real jewells. I do not know if CZ still produces a 7x57mm for the Euro market. Tom Purdom

A couple of suggestions....look for a used custom in 7x57, there are many out there and you might find one at the right price. Winchester made the 70 featherweight (new models) in 7x57 for a few years. You might also be able to get a new Winchester featherweight in 7-08 and have it rechambered. Just a few thoughts.

There's a M-70 featherweight in 7X57 push feed in McCook Nebraska at "outdoor sports" call and ask for Greg...tell him vapodog referred you. He can arrange shipment to your dealer.

There's another one just like it at Cabela's in Mitchell South Dakota.

A 7x57 won't clean up a 7-08 chamber.

Remington made their model 700 in 7x57 some time ago. Although they are rare, you may be able to find one of those if you search for it.

Nothing wrong with the Ruger or a Montana barreled action and a synthetic stock would be a simple solution. Buy a beat up old model 70 in .270 or .30-06 and rebarel it, the 7x57 is my all time favorite.

Wes,

Your too late, Ruger stopped offering them the 2002 season. I bought one that was on close out and the last unit that the distributer had in mid 2004.

I just recently converted a Ruger 270 to 7x57 as I've gotten very fond of the caliber. It was not cheap though. With the Dougles barrel and action and trigger work.

If I where you I'd look to the Internet auction sites to try and grab one.
