I just received 100 577 caliber (.585) 560 gr RN .035 jacket bullets from Hawk. I ordered them either in 2016 or 2015, I don't remember. I plan on using these in my 2 3/4" 577 bpe. Does anyone have experience they like to share with Hawk bullets in their bpe rifles? Jim

Jim, I've used Hawks in several rifles and found them to be quite accurate and to hold up well enough at moderate velocities for game use. I wish I had tried them in the various BPEs I've been fortunate enough to shepherd at times in my life; the closest thing to BPE use has been with a .38-55 and a .38-72, both of which love the Hawks either with black or smokeless. One very nice thing about them is that they have worked well even when undersized for the bore. Both the .38s have typical .378-.379" groove diameters and I was happy to find that .377" Hawks shot great. I was astonished to discover that even .375" Hawks did too, at least with smokeless. I haven't tried those with black yet. In 2011 I used the .38-72 with smokeless loads pushing a 300 gr .030" jacket RT to a chrono'ed 2050 fps to take a small bison. It was a broadside shot that did not take out a shoulder going in, but it did drop the bison in place. The recovered bullet showed the core was slipping forward in the jacket but it hadn't separated yet. All in all I've been happy with Hawks at moderate vels.

I also received the same Hawk bullets for my .577 BPE. Ordered them in '15 or '16, been so long that I forgot. I'll be watching this thread closely. Dave
