Either I'm blind or the caliber/cartridge chambering you want to use to reach 1300 fps with a 120 grain bullet is not mentionedin the post.

Accurate arms has a web site with lots of 5744 loads, as well as a giveaway loading manual. Don't know if it's made it across the pond, though. bob

Hi 5744 is absolutely marvelous stuff for reduced loads in just about anything. Not just reduced velocity but very accurate loads with low velocity spreads. Recently I came up with some loads for 30-06 and .300 H&H using 170gr 30-30 bullets. With both rifles I had very accurate results, ( average 1" at 100 yds), and muzzle velocity around 2250fps. This will be a perfect load for watching a deer trail and waiting for a blacktail buck to show up fairly close. Looking back on my deer hunting experience, there were so many times where a kill was made fairly close and thought to myself, I could have carried a 30-30 and made this kill just fine.. Well, now I have that option even if I'm carrying a '06 or a .300. http://www.accuratepowder.com/ Here is a link to the AA site. Their engineers have always been very helpful when I have contacted them.

is accurate XMP 5744 the same as accurate 5744? I just bought a can of 5744 today to load some moderate 375 H&H rounds.

I use 30 gr in .270 130 grain bullets for a muzzle velocity of 2200 and recoil of 6 ft lbs. That is the least I could use and still get my BAR to cycle. A friend has cancer in his arm bone and can't shoot regular loads but still wants to hunt.

If you want to load some "plinking loads" you may want to consider something using convective ignition. For my 470NE I load 18 grains of Titewad, no filler, pushing a 500 grain cast bullet which gives 1000 fps with very light recoil.
