my hornady, lyman, and lee manuals don't have it. COTW has Ackley's original data but I would like more if it is out there, esp. with Re-22, and also heavier bullets. thanks need to keep pressures sane, as this is for a 1891 argentine mauser barreled action I was given to restock.

The Sierra rifle 50th anniversary has 257RAI loads. They have been publishing the same loads for many years, and they are still good. From experience, I think the 75 gr load of 47.7 gr IMR4895 3600 fps is where a guy will wind up, if he loads more than that and gets shorter brass life. I have not tried it, but I think the load you want in that book is 117/120 gr 48 gr IMR-4831 2900 fps

I have four editions of Hornady's reloading manuals and they all have loads for 257 Roberts Improved. What edition do you have that doesn't have the 257 Improved loads? ******************************************************* For every action, there is an equal and opposite malfunction.

Delorro some body gave you higher than max loads on this thread so for 75 gr its 46 gr max at 3600 fps,and for 117 gr its 46.4 3031 at 2900fps. Seems to me if I was worried about pressures I'd offer up something well under max loads? I tried Reloader 19 with mine earlier this fall with 110 gr accubonds and didn't find the sweet spot so I'm tryig another powder, perhaps Re 22. FS

I've had really good results with IMR 4350 and 100 gr. Rem. bullets. Steve E......... NRA Patron Life Member GOA Life Member North American Hunting Club Life Member USAF Veteran

I can get 3212~3244 fps 100 gr HNDY SP moly, 2.998" jammed into the lands, 26" barrel, 42 gr surplus IMR4895 that burns more like H322. Averages 1", not near as good as with lighter bullets. The same reamer and same batch of Lothar Walther light varmint barrels, some rifles will do better with heavier bullets. Go figure.
