One part of the equations that is very important is the use of small based dies for reloading semi-auto's . good luck, by the way in my 742 i had good luck with 4350.

You will never hit the target if you don't take the shot.

If the rounds won't chamber on a "soft closing" of the semi-auto action you need to them to chamber in you need to size them more, if that means "small base" or "extra small base sizing" dies that's what you have to do.

You REALLY don't want ammunition that cannot be removed from the chamber except by shooting it out....

IMR 4064 should be a good powder. I've also had very good success in my 30/06 with Varget.

You don't want to use excessively slow powders like Winchester 760 since they can result in excessive strain on the parts of semi autos and ruin them. The Hornady manual gives loads for the M1 Garand that should work with your semiauto as well.

Always full length size and as noted above, use small base dies.

Never had to use smallbase dies for autos, my Redding dies work really well for autos and pumps, rounds fit just like factory shells.
About 12yrs. ago I loaded 57grs. H4350 with 150 Hornadys getting very good accuracy in a couple of older 74s, I think they're called.
Now I'd use RE15, about the same powder as IMR4064 as far as burn rate goes. Both these powders seem to be ideal for autos. Jay

I recom RCBS Small base dies, and Med burning powder in the 30-06.

My favorite load is

Varget @ 47.0
180 Nosler Part or Accubond
CCI Br-2 Primer
WW Cases

Crimp using Lee Factory Crimp Die.
Reloader 15, IMR 4895 and IMR 4064 are good powders for the 30-06 Auto.

150 gr Bullet
51.0 of Varget

165 gr Bullet
49.0 of Varget

My reloading experience with centerfire semiautos is limited to a Browning BAR .270 and an AR-15 clone. Neither requires other than ordinary FL dies. If you don't HAVE to use small base dies, by all means, avoid them.

The Browning appears to be attempting to start the action prematurely with H-4831, which I attribute to excessive gas port pressures with a slow-burning powder. As a result, I use a bit faster powders in it than in my bolt .270.

For your '06 and 150 grain bullets, I would suggest IMR 4064 or 4895. Either will come within 25 fps of the slower powders in velocity, and will treat your auto a little more gently.
