start low and work your way up, but I think 4895 is to fast for 243 I'd pick 4350 1st

Well, that is a bullet/powder combination that I have never tried. H 4895 is great powder, but I think most people would conceed that a slower burning powder like IMR 4350 or H 4350 or IMR 4831 would be better in this usage.

But, I did a little checking after seeing your post. You are right, there are some varied data out there.

The newest Hodgdon manual suggests the following for a 243 Winchester and a 100 grain bullet when using H 4895:

31 grains starting 33 grain Maximum

The previous Hodgdon manual (No 26) suggests 33.5 starting to 36 grain Maximum.

The Modern Hanloading manual by Richard Lee suggests 34.6 grains starting and 36 grains Maximum.

The old Speer Number 8 manual which was published in 1970 suggests 33 to 37 grains for H 4895 and a 105 grain bullet. Now this manual is pretty much accepted as having some pretty hot loads in it. The loads were not developed using modern pressure testing equipment. I find I can use some of their max charges but not all of them.

Finally, it used to be pretty much accepted as well that IMR 4895 and H 4895 data were interchangable. (As stated in the before mentioned Speer Manual.) Having said that, the latest Nosler Manual #5 lists 31.5 grains of IMR 4895 to start and 35.5 grains of IMR 4895 as Maximum with their 100 grain bullets.

Hope this helps.

thanks for the input guys,

i been useing 44gr of h4895 with the 55gr nosler,
accurate to about an 100yrds.
also been useing it with 95gr bt noslers,
35gr h4895 they are about the same at 100yrds.

i think i will get some reloader 22 for the 100gr bullets.

i think i will give h4895 a whirl with the 100gr bullets, start low and work up, got to be worth a go.
thanks again gents

H-4895 From 31.0 grains to 36.5 grains
Remington 9-1/2 Primer

IMR-4831 From 35.0 grains to 46.0 grains
Remington 9-1/2 Primer
might be a better choice.
