What is your favorite load for the above combination. I talked to Barnes and they are suggesting Re-15. I have alot of IMR 4831 but they are saying that powder is way to slow to achieve top velocities. What say you. Thanks in advance, Ace
Do you, Barnes, or anyone else have any reliable, tested load data for that powder and bullet in that cartridge? If so, give it a go. If not, that should be an indicator that that powder is not appropriate or at least not optimal for the cartridge.

I just finished developing a very accurate load for the 168 TTSX. 64.7 grains of Hodgdon Hybrid 100V was the ticket. Came across the chrono at just a hair under 3100 fps and grouped well inside 1".

A buddy of mine picked up a browning x mark and some 165 partition fed ammo. It didnt' shoot good and we went to the range and chrono'd it. It was clocking 3120 and some of the cases had extractor marks. We worked with several powders with the 168 ttsx and wound up at 65.5 RE17. We matched the 3120 velocity and no more extractor marks. Even the win mag primers that go into the prime pockets so ez when new will stay tight for 6 reloadings. Accuracy is really good...try seating the bullet pretty deep....so the ogive is only out of the case about .030". Play with seat depth a bit....this gun definately likes many bullets at the same depth.

I re-barreled a Savage 300WSM w. a PacNor heavy tube for a tactical rig. Bedded in McMillian A-3. I apologize for not having the grain data but I've found mine loves IMR4007SSC. 5 shot groups are coming in at 3/8 to half inch. The loads were at book max, .6 under book max....
