I'm still working on my .280 and the bullet I'll use for bigger than deer animals will be the Northfork 160 grain

I normally shot 150PT in my 280. I have also taken 2 elk with a 145 speer from my 280PDK(280gibbs+). That said I have switched to 160Accubond and that will be the bullet I take to Namibia next month. In my use it gives the accuracy of the BT and the penetration of the PT. My wife has taken two elk with the 140 Accubond from her 7x57.
As usual just my $.02 Paul K

I use the 160gr NP. I have not taken an elk w/ my .280 yet, but the bullet performs well from my 7mag @ 3050fps, I see no reason it won't be equally effective @ 2800fps. The 160grNF would also be a great choice.

What kind of vel. are you getting w/ your load? My 280 maxs out @ 57.5gr for 2850fps from my 23"bbl. I found IMR7828 the most accurate powder giving the highest vel. in my 280.

I have used several bullets with success on elk. I really like the 175 gr. Woodleigh or Noslers. I also like the 160 gr. GS Custom monolithic HP extremely well. The Northforks are a great bullet for elk. In fact I have used these bullets on much larger game and in the 7x57 with like results.
