It appears that the Nosler Partition Seconds are no more. Oh, they are still available, but at a higher price than Nosler Firsts. Shooter Pro Shop is selling Partition Seconds at about $3-$5 per 50 more than places like even Midway are selling Firsts. To bad, it was good while it lasted. Time for a new bullet.

It's been going on for a while. I don't get it. Sometimes the prices are reasonable then they price em crazy. It's an embarassment for nosler. Maybe they have someone inexperienced running the site right now. Regardless, it's some of the best advertising the other companies could ask for.

I always check around for multiple prices. I have recently found Midway more expensive for ammo, bullets...

Looking at Nosler 30 cal 200 grn Partition (50)

Shooters Pro factory seconds $31.95
Midway first $37.99
widners first $32.70

It is amazing the differences in prices between web sites.

Alot of it has to do with inventory age. As places like widners sells out of their current inventory and has to replace it, their prices will go up.

Maybe, but a 100% increase in a week. 160gr 7MM Partition 2nds went from $18.00 to $36.00. Today they have them priced at $29.

I bought them for the last three years, knowing that someday it would have to stop. I bought enough that if all my grandkids and great grandkids will never have to buy another bullet. A 130 grain .277 Nosler Solidbase bullet for $6.00 per sac as an example, 130 grain Partitions for $11.95 per sac, 140 grain Accubonds for $14.95 per sac. How could you go wrong. I bought from .243 up to .358 and everything between. Sometimes they ran special sales with no shipping, then I pounced. Thank goodness for my impulsive buying and the fact I stuck with it until this price increase started. A buddy called me today crying because the .308 Partitions had gone to retail prices. I let him have a few sacs and told him he was on his own from now on. Good shooting.

I posted the price question on Nosler's Facebook page. Here's their answer.

quote:
Rusty, there was a price increase on our bullets on April 1st. Since the 2nds are smaller batches we sell through them quicker and you saw the increase in them first. You will start to notice the increase in the firsts as places like Midway sell out of their current supply.

Right? I talked to a guy at my local shop and he said that Nosler sent out a FYI stating that they would increase their prices 10% April 1st. Partition Seconds went from $18/50 to $36/50. That's 100% not 10%, someone is trying to pull a fast one.

I believe the Nosler seconds became so popular that Nosler saw an opportunity to make a little more money off them. Too many people told too many others about the great deals on Nosler seconds. Roll Eyes

Nosler won't be the first company that killed the goose that laid the golden egg. I think Hornady, Barnes and lately Speer are kicking Noslers ass...and then they do this stupid stunt.

Nosler must have received a lot of complaints. I just checked Shooters Pro Shop and they slashed their prices on 2nds.

Why are Nosler being blamed for Shooters Pro prices?
A quick internet search produced prices significantly below those quoted, so vote with your $.

well lets see, Shooters Pro Shop is run by and owned thru Nosler (they were in the same building in Bend, Or when I took a tour thru the Nosler plant once).
I checked the pro shop website twice today, early am and just a few minutes ago and as scottfromdallas said the prices are wayyyyyyyyyy down tonite, enough so that I just placed an order with them and made sure it met the $200.00 minumum to get the FREE shipping to boot. Just stocking up that I use and what was available at these reduced prices (as an example, I got some .30 cal 180 gr protected power points that were listed at $30.95 this am and tonite they were available for $14.95, thats per bag of 50).
Just gotta keep checking and see what they are doing with availability and prices. And I can't tell you how much game Ive killed using their factory seconds, but its a lot.

I was speaking to a tech at Hornady today, and asked him was Hornady planning to raise their prices dramatically also...

His response was NO... their supplier's prices have not gone up...

He indicated that the opinion at Hornady is that, all Manufacturers are getting more orders than they can fill... so they speculate that Nosler is trying to take advantage of the situation, and milk the demand with higher prices... while also cutting back on demand, so they can actually meet all of their orders..

He also indicated that since Nosler's prices have gone up, they are seeing a further increase in orders for their bullets...

Just passing along what he was saying...

Well, I am back at it, just ordered more Blems from Nosler Pro Shooters. I have decided that this addiction is a part of me, just hope the grandkids realize how much money I am saving them someday. Good shooting.
