Not to offend anyone, but I think I missed smthing . I didn't hear of US being attacked until 911, so where was the defense line? Moved to Europe or Vietnam? That is ways away from the US borders.Maybe I should flip some pages in the history instead of the reloading book.

Yes you did, must have slept through history class the day they discussed pearl harbour and WW11

This is long but well worth the read.

I remember that, it's just hard to think of an island. IMO that was the last justifiable armed conflict. My grandparents lived through WW II not only got there in the last couple yards of it, they kept me up to date with the European part.

Went to a local gun show this week end and found a limited supply of primers, one guy had all four sizes in Winchester and CCI but not all sizes in each brand. Now, here is the good part - $36.99 per M plus tax. didn't see or price them myself but was told another dealer had some Federal 215 LRM at $41.99 per M.
Tell me they are not trying to price us out of reloading!

Lord, give me patience 'cuz if you give me strength I'll need bail money!!

As I posted Sunday I was at a show Saturday and my local shop just after the show.

There were no cheap primers at the show.....however there were tens of thousands going for $35/1000

My local dealer (who has primers for $28/1000) tells me the demand has stripped supply and he hasn't sold this much loading supplies in 15 years.

"Panic set on by the internet" one show dealer said....hmmmmmm are we to blame? seems so.

One dealer said "gun owners love a Republican in the White House, gun dealers love it when a Democrate gets in".$$$$$$$$$ and panic crazed mice.

poll question: who is doing the most to screw shooters in America

1. the democrats

2. the components manufacturers

I'd venture to say that the people we keep in business are doing it to us more/worse.

You don't list enough options....

You see the component manufacturer doesn't set the store price when everyone and his brother flock to the store.....it is the dealer.

Remember, panic crazed mice.

If I was a store owner, I'd price them so high that no one would buy them all.

How is it gouging when a retailer prices them at $50/1000 and the first guy through the door buys everything he has?

I'd say the stupid one is the guy paying too much for primers he/she won't use before the supply is back to normal, which by then the price should come back down at least a bit? At least you'd think!

I payed just over $14 for 300 WLR primers last night (Manitoba Canada), same price they've been since I started reloading 2 years ago, they should last me a year if not better!

Federal's response :

Shortage is due to ammunition demand and military/government orders. We
expect primer shortage to continue through 2009.

My Response : So here I thought the war was winding down , troops were going to be pulled out of Iraq

some redeployed too Afghanistan . So " Every " manufacturer is swamped with Military orders ?.

Ok I'll bite ! ,if they explain why their site posted due too economic concerns they were

experiencing layoffs on the ammunition side !.

I went too their site early this morning to copy it and it's been removed !!.

You figure it out . archer

I paid $27.50 for 1000 Federal 205 and $35 for 1000 CCI 450 in NY last weekend. Not much of a choice, but I needed them.

Bartsche & VarmintGuy thanks so much for hijacking this thread. There's a forum for political bullshit. please use it.

The primers here are 3.95 for 100 federal 210. The ower limits his reloading supplies to 2 per customer, what ever it is, gunpowder, bullets, you get the hint.

You guys have it better than I do, £40 for 1000 CCI no4 last week from fultons.

Using 51.3 gr of H4895 at £39 per pound, speer 150 grain softs at £25 a hundred and lapua cases at 70 per 100 work out how much a round costs me to reload for the 30-06 Frowner

It takes a certain pig-headed obstinacy to shoot in the uk these days......
