I have several pounds of WC 846 powder that I am considering using in my 22/250. Does anyone have any load data for this combination? I am going to use bullets in the 45-55 grain range. I tried a number of different bullet from 46gr to 55gr with 34.5 gr of WCC 846.All loads seemed mild. 46gr 3550 fps. accuracy--so-so 50 gr TNT 3470 fps. MOA 55gr. Bergers 3488fps.( Why it was faster than the 50 grainers I know not why)3 shot 1/8" group at 50 yds. A little side note; The 846 really shines in my cousins .257 Roberts pushng a 90 gr. Sierra 90gr. BTHP. <1/4" at 100 yds. Hope this helps. roger Old age is a high price to pay for maturity!!! Some never pay and some pay and never reap the reward. Wisdom comes with age! I use 846 in my 25 Souper with the 87gr. Speer bullet. I don't remember the exact charge without looking it up but the m.v. runs around 3250 fps. and I get honest 5 shot 3/4in. groups at 100yds. This rifle is made up with a Rem. 25/06 takeoff barrel.

I haven't been too happy with WC 846 in a .22-250. Its burning characterisctics just don't seem to match the cartrige too well for some reason, although other powders like 4064 and 4895 with similar relative burning rates do just fine in the .22-250. This seems to me to have something to do with WC-846 being fairly dense and leaving a good deal of powder space in the case. You may find a little better luck using it with the ligther bullets (40-45 grains) where it will take up a little more powder space. It does well with the .222 and .223 where it uses most of the available powder space.

I use wc44 in mine. I found 846 to vari a lot in burning speed start way low and work up slowly.
