LGS has a nice Savage 340 in 225Win.

I like the idea of resurrecting it using Hornady 25-35 brass, but don't have a lathe. As Savage made the same rifle in 30-30, does anyone know if the 225's use the identical bolt? The real 225 rim diameter is slightly smaller, but can it source any piece from the 30-30 family and use without turning down the rim also?

Thanks.

There is a fellow on the "Cast Boolit" site that makes 225 brass from 30-30 I believe.

Evidently, you can form .225 from .30-30.

I had the same question: I have a post-64 Model 70 in .225 (1:14). I love that you like the idea of resurrecting this amazing cartridge. I hope you go for it.

I have several very accurate rifles, but my .225 is the best — a total tack driver with 40 grain Bergers. If I ever wear this barrel out (it's the original) I'll replace it with a Lothar Walther in .225 Win.
