I was reading the loading data here @ AR on the 7.62x39. How is it possible to seat them big ass bullets into that tiny little case with the case already "Full" of powder? http://www.accuratereloading.com/76239.html

I reload for 7.62 x 39 and I don't see how that would be possible... The biggerst I load in that is a 160 grain cast gas checked .311 sized bullet and it works pretty good.... actually a 150 does well too... I'd ask them how they did that... Maybe a super press?? or something... I can't imagine shooting something that heavy in 7.62x 39 wow!!! Mr. Kristen Waller

Where do you envision the problem with putting that bullet in that case? 24 grs. of N130 doesn't hardly fill the case. 99% of the democrats give the rest a bad name. "O" = zero NRA life member

It is sort of like the .300 Whisper. Big, heavy, slow bullet in a small case with little noise. More effective then you might think too.

I just checked. 24gr of N-130 comes to the top of the shoulder in 7.62x39 Lapua brass. I would call that "full". Not only that they have 28gr of n-130 with a 175gr VLD. Believe me 28gr of n-130 is "full".

If you think the load is safe, a way to get the powder in a smaller space is to use a drop tube. MTM used to make them. By dropping the powder in from a height it packs in better and takes up less room. Compressed loads are not that unusual but it helps if you can get the bullet started in the case. I have no experience with 7.62 x 39 so cant comment on the safety angle with this round.

I don't understand the why aspect...why would you do that anway? Does your SKS or AK have a good enough twist rate for that bullet or is this a match barrel?

SKSs and AKs are not the only things chambered for the 7.62 X 39. There are several bolt guns chambered for it that are very accurate with those bullets if properly twisted. 99% of the democrats give the rest a bad name. "O" = zero NRA life member
