Do I Have A 300WSM Load?

I've started unboxing my reloading gear that sat in storage for about fifteen years. I found a half box of 30 Caliber (.308) 130gr Hornady Spire Points. After I burn through one more box of factory 150gr Winchester SUPREME Ballistic Silver Tips, I would like to reload the Hornady bullets. I was considering 65 gr of IMR 4064. Any thoughts?

My long term thought is to clean-out my 30 caliber bullet inventory, then retire the Browning A-Bolt Medallion, hang it on a wall, and go back to reloading my 25.06. I would be using the IMR 4064 for these loads as well.

Back to the 300 WSM. I have an old Hornady Reloading Manual but of course it has the 300 Win Mag, but doesn't include the 300 WSM.

I find current reloading data for 125 gr bullets in my caliber, but not 130 gr. Has anyone loaded the 130s in 300 WSM?

IMR4064 isn't ideal for the 300WSM. I typically burn a lot slower powders, H4831, etc

Hodgon's website only lists one load for IMR4064 in the 300WSM and it's 61 grains with a 150 grain bullet. 65 grains of IMR4064 with a 130 grain bullet would be pushing maximum so I would work up to that slowly.

IMR 4350 worked great for me with 165 grain bullets, I couldn't get enough H4831 in the cases to get it to run right, although it would probably work with heavier bullets. I agree that IMR4064 probably isn't the best powder for this cartridge but it may do OK. Try it and find out.

Thanks for the insight. I am also looking at IMR4350.

For the 100gr 25.06 Rem I see 50gr of IMR 4350 as a possible load.

For the 130gr 300WSM it looks like 70gr of IMR 4350.

In 300 WSM I see a lot of loads for a 125gr bullet and nothing for a 130 gr. bullet.

Am I correct that if everything else is the same, and for whatever powder charge used with the 125gr bullet, if I just changed to the 130 gr bullet, the pressure would increase some unknown amount?? Meaning I might want to back-off a little further if I'm following a 125gr load with my 130gr bullet.

I've used RL-15 in the 300 WSM using Barnes 130 TSX bullets. I don't remember the amount of powder off-hand but I'm sure you could figure it out if you decide to go that direction.

This load has worked well for my youngest daughter on deer and elk.

Search ADI, the Australian powder manufacturer who also supplies many of the Hodgdon powders.
AR2208 is Varget, virtually identical to IMR4064, AR2209 is H4350/IMR4350. They are listing loads for the 300WSM with Hornady 130gr bullets.
There is a very extensive downloadable Handloaders Guide available from ADI too if you search for it. Number 6 is the latest I have.
