Hi! Need som advice. Will soon achieve my 404 Jeffery, and beside the 400grs Woodleighs I plan to load some 310grs lead bullets(with gas check) Would like to stay in the neighbourhood of 2200 fps. Powders planned to use are the Vithavouri N130 and N133. Burning rate similar to Hodgon H322 and H335, Winchester 748 and Norma 201/202. What would be a safe starting load? M

I have been casting and loading for my 404 Jeffery for a number of years but my mould is a custom Hoch 350gn GC mould. I haven't used the Vithavouri powders but have used a lot of H4350, Varget and red Dot I load my bullet in light plinking loads to 1500fps with 20.5gn Red Dot A very accurate load at 1900fps with 63gn H4350. A reasonably fast load to 2365fps with 74gn Varget and a heavier load to 2415fps with 87gn H4350. No filler with the red dot loads and both Varget and H4350 only used a dacron or wool filler when under 65 gn. I have tried my 63gn load with and without filler but wouldn't go lighter than this without.

I also used dacron filler with fast powders/light bullets in my 460 G&A(a wildcat based on the 404 case) M
