Trying to win the ear of Sierra to get a heavy .224 varmint bullet off the ground. Usable in the fast twist .224's 69-80+ grn I think it would be great if it was like the MK's but in a BLITZKING configuration.
Email Sierra and tell them what you think.

Sam, why doncha try the 75 Hornady A-Max? From what I've seen of other A-Max's on fur, they're very frangible. The 75 is my bullet of choice for the 600 yard stage in a 1-8" .223.

It'll likely work and will surely be cheaper than a Sierra equivalent. Now that I've opened the bidding I'll have to try a few of my match loads on pests to see for myself.

I've tried the 75 a-maxes in my gun and they punch holes thru g-hogs at 200yards and then leave a 5-8ft.groove in the ground behind them.
Others have had good luck, but not me. When I called Hornady, they said hey, its a match bullet,
designed for accuracy, not expansion. Thanks, Sam
Would you email Sierra and or Nosler and let them know that we need a heavy VARMINT BULLET? The more we bug them the more they'll listen, and who knows? Thanks again, Sam

Glad to hear you'd already tried the A-Max, sorry it didn't work out. I understand Hornady's response too but if we dwell on THAT too long, you just know another zillion posts about using match bullets on game will follow!

I'll pester Sierra in the effort. I'd like to see factory 22-250's available with twists that accommodate the better BC bullets too.

I've posed this question once or twice with some of the bullet makers out there, and so far the response has been that the shooter who would use this kind of bullet is in the minority and therefore is not as economically feasible as other areas of interest. But i'm going to keep trying too.
