Hello to you all, this is my first post from a Rain Soaked UK. I have been using N130 for a few weeks now and i am only getting avarage groupings 3/4 -1" at 100 and i was wondering what combination of bits would you use for such a powder, I am using 50 Gr V-Max,RWS Brass, CCI400 sm rf primers up to now I have found the best weight is 20.1gr. I have set the bullets at 3 thou off after trying many seating depths and the rifle is a Sako 75 heavy barrel. Any suggestions.
many thanks Bob

Switch to:
Benchmark From 22.5 grains to 24.0 grains
Remington 7-1/2 Primer

But if you insist on using N-130:
N-130 From 17.9 grains to 22.1 grains
Remington 7-1/2 Primer

I would try heavier loads with N130 first... Check with the Vihtavouri manual (downloaded from their web page). They have published some data that may be useful.

Bob.

I agree with Olli's advice. I have one Sako that thrives on 130. Have you tried different bullets? There is always H322 and 4198. I have several 222's. The one powder that seemed to work in all of them was the old Accurate 2015BR. I'm not sure about the new stuff.

IMR4198 is very accurate in mine with 52gr pills.

It is a rare 222 that won't shoot very well with either IMR 4198 or H322. I have never shot any of it, but I have heard a lot of people say that AA 2015BR is very good in the 222. I have to believe N130 or N133 would work very well. The burn rate is right there in same area as IMR 4198. My 223 loves N133 with the 50 gr. bullets.

I haven't used it yet, but do use VV133 in both of my .222Rems and a .222Rem. Mag. I've been really impressed so far as I am with all VihtaVouri powders. I don't think there's much difference between VV130 and VV133. Best wishes.

In my Blaser R93 .222 Rem Jagdmatch, I had good results with the Sierra MK + N 130 / 20.5 (5 in < .25"). However, I have since standardized on N 133 / 22.5 (5 in .20").

Just for the record, I have found my best load and it is as follows, N130 21.8 grns RWS Brass 50 grn V max and Remington 7 1/2 Benchrest primers and it shot at 3300 fps and 02.65" c to c at 100 yds and I found Benchmark a load of sh*te so Vhit powders are the way to go with a SAKO 75 Heavy barreled Varmint. Good luck everybody and take care
