I am not sure if the problem was the RCBS die or just the difference in a standard die and bushing die. It concerned me that my bullets seated really hard and the sizing ball also pulled hard on resizing. After talking to the guys at Sinclair I purchased a Redding Full Length Bushing die and bushings and actually solved two problems. I now have adequate neck tension and the sizing ball doesn't drag real hard. The other benefit is no run out. I had a little before but it never bothered me much but now I have none. I can't knock RCBS since I have used them for a long time and my other dies are great but if ever buy another die it will be a bushing die.

Dwight, It could be that yout brass has thicker necks than usual. We have had this sort of problem with brass from different makes. Some have very thin necks, the bullets is too loose in the neck after the case was sized. Some have necks that are so thick it makes it very hard to seat the bullets.

Saeed, Thanks, the Rem brass in the 300SAUM does appear thick and that is why I did not knock RCBS. I was planning to ream them and the guys at Sinclair convinced me to try the bushing die instead which has solved the problem. I got a Redding since the guys at Sinclair don't sell RCBS. I will shoot this weekend and see how my loads group. The Rem brass for my 7mm08 has thin necks and light bullet tension and it shoots perfect and that is what gave me the idea to try for a little less neck tension. The 300SAUM tension was extremely tight and was either the thick wall or the standard die squeezing them down a little too much. Interesting learning experience.
