Got my '57 M70 in 300 H&H. Good year for Chevys , hope it turns out the same for rifles. No dies or brass yet, but anyone got any loads for the 180 Partions? Gonna be a hard choice between the 7x64 and the 300 for Namibian plains game this September. Thanks, Bob

I have had three of those, but, parted with them for my Merkel drilling. I found that the following load was outstanding.

W.W. brass
C.C.I. 250
Nosler 180 PT.
IMR-4350-67 grs.
Warm load, start at 63 and work up, my rifles shot an honest .5-.7" with this and clocked about 3000 fps. mv. with the 26" tube; these figures were very constant, but, varied slightly with powder lot.

BTW, this was a very nice load to shoot, the recoil and blast were much less than a .300 WBY. and I could run the five shots the rifles will hold into 4" offhand at 100. I wish I still had one of these rifles!

My old 300H&H is a model 721. It likes 70gr. of H-4831 behind a 180 partition just under 3000fps. I have tried more but it shoots best right around 69-70gr.

VFR: This load is right out of the Nosler book. Shoots consistent .5" groups right around 3k fps from my pre-war Model 70 ( 26" barrel):

W.W. brass
C.C.I. 250
Nosler 180 PT.
IMR-4350-65 grs.

I shoot 180 gr. Partitions out of both of my 300 H&H's, a 721 and a 700 Classic. I use 73 gr. of H-4831SC in both of them and it produces right at 3000 fps. in both even though the classic has a 24" bbl and the 721 has a 26" bbl. This is a max load so approach with caution. Would be best to drop down about 5 grains and work up in your rifle.

Regards,
Tom
