I am about to buy a auto pistol and will want to reload for it. I have heard many people say they are crap and difficult to set up. Is it really that big of a POS? I dont have the budget for a dillon of hornady LNL, but want a good auto-progressive. Auburn University BS '09, DVM '17

If you want a "Good" Press, save a little longer and buy the Dillon. You won't be sorry that you did.

one of the things i learned over the years is not to rush out and buy a product based on low cost. it got more expensive by far to replace it latter. Dillon is THE progressive press

If you pay for the powder measure and a 1,000 bullets, Hornady will throw in the AP. Actually, it's a very good instrument. The aforesaid powder measure beats the Dillon's, and changeover on the press is simpler and quicker. Lee equipment is as cheaply made as possible; it assures their monopoly position in the low-end market. The more complex the particular piece is, the more variation in the final product. Some people like Lee equipment, and they're the ones Lee sells it to. Everyone else buys someone else's equipment. If you shoot only pistols, Dillon has their Square Deal press. Caliber changeover is expensive, and it uses proprietary dies. As a dedicated press, it is a good option.

the loadmaster is a great deal. I have loaded many thousands of rounds on mine. the primer feed can be a little finicky, but if you keep it clean you are good to go. if money is no object, I am sure the dillom is just swell. if money is an object, the lee will load great ammo.
