Hi everyone, my first time here. I need to get a little better accuracy with my rem 700 varmint rifle, i have the stainless barrel. I use it mostly for groundhogs and would like to stay with the Nosler ballistic tip, probably the 55gr. any data would be appreciated

I have the 223 in a couple of guns one is a 700vssf and I have good luck with commerical 223 cases...Rem. and Rem 7 1/2 primers and H335 powder....start at 25.5grains and work up....mine likes the bullets seated .015off the lands but shoots good still at closer and futher away.....I use both full length sizing dies and a bushing neck die along with a straight line Forster Ultra seater to get good straight consistant seating.......I do the full BR type case prep but sort cases rather than turning the necks for the factory chamber and it shoots under .5 for 5 shots at 100yds consistantly on good wind days......I have had better luck with the Hornady 55VMax in my bolt gun but the Nosler BT does fine.....HTH..good luck and good shooting!!

My three .223s like the Nosler BT 40grainer with either 27.5gr of 748 or 25gr of 2200. Each might like a little bit different load for BEST accuracy, but this way I can load all similarly and don't have to worry about having loaded the wrong load in which brass.

Goose, The accuracy load in the Nosler manual is 25gr. H335, I use a 55 VMax with 22.5grs. H335 and I'm having pretty good results with it, but I think the VMAX is a longer bullet than the Nosler, so 25grs. should be safe, work up and find out, my VS don't like nothing near the Max. Jay

I have a CZ 527 in 223 and it LOVES 50g Nosler Ballistic Tips in front of 27.5 grains of AR2208 - 5 shot one hole groups at 100 yards - this load could be hot in your rifle, so the usual work up rules apply.

Thank you everybody, this will definitely help get me started, I've been reloading for a good while, but I'm just starting to try to get really good accuracy, I really appreciate the info, also just in the 2 times I've been to this website I've seen suggestions that I've never even thought of, it's really put a whole new spin on how I look at reloading. Thank you very much.
