I acquired a .300 RUM Remington that is near new because the owner is recoil afraid.
Well, from a lot of readings here I try some loads with 180 gr Hdy spirepoint just for development arriving to a safety and accurate load with Rel 25 around 3280 fps.
The future use of this gun will be to hunt red stag and big hog in our south at a minimum of 300 meters.
My idea was to load them with 180 gr nossler partition or Barnes xbt.
A friend just offer me some boxes of Barnes 165 gr TSX.
Do you think that I have to stay with the 180 grs bullets or increase velocity and go to the TSX's.
I read a lot about the preference for the heavier bullets but not knowing how the TSX's work is why I make the question.
Thank's to all for their answer.

I think either bullet would work just fine. I have a Sendero that shoots the 180gr Hornady's very well and a Rem 700BDL that shoots the 180gr TSX very well. I thougt about the 165's but I already had a couple of boxes of the 180's.

As Ed said, either is fine. I prefer the 180's because with that much powder behind the bullet, there is no advantage in the 165's (How fast is fast, how flat is flat?). That being said if someone is giving me boxes of shells and I can make use of them, I will. Wink
