G'Day Fella's,

It looks like I may have just become the owner of an almost new Rem 700, in .338 Lapua Mag.
Just wondering what components you blokes use, when shooting 250grn bullets and which 250grn bullets shoot most accurately in your rifles?
Also, what kind of velocities should I be able to safely achieve in this rifle (26" barrel + M/brake)?

Doh!

Here is where I would start. The best groups I ever shot were with 250g Hornady sp in 338wm &340wby. Have fun with your new toy!!

HomerOz ----- Sorry to be so long getting back, I had to get my "I Pad" to where my records were, when it comes to loads I hate to depend on memory alone. ----- Most accurate loads with heavier bullets like 240 grain North Fork or 250 grain Barnes X are with 98 grains of H-1000, 93 grains of RL-25, 92 grains of RL-22. All loads with Fed 215M primers. Speeds for those loads will chrony from 3050 up to 3150 fps and accuracy is pin point. My son beleaves in the 225 grain North Fork with 98 grains of H-1000 at speeds of 3100 plus. My son, my grandson and myself have all taken Bull Elk with that load. In my opinion there is no better bullet on todays market as far as performance and accuracy. My rifle is the Sako Model 995 with a 4.5 X 14 Ziess Conquest. Hope this helps. Good shooting.

G'Day PHURLEY5,

Thank you for that data and your hunting expreience with it!
And yes I'm the same, I trust myself pretty much with most things but powder charges, isn't one of them!!!

A couple of mates of mine have 995 Sako's (.300 WM & .375 H&H), and they both SHOOT!
No need to elaborate on that, as we both know exactly what that means!!!

I'll print off your data an get into it, as soon as the dies arrive from Sinclairs Int'l.

Doh!
