Almost a year ago a lot of press discussion/announcemets were made of new primer manufacturing. One in NE Texas and another in Arkansas. It was stated that primers would be in production in early 2023. Has anyone seen or heard of an update of either of these producers?

Nope
And if they do provide a new source of primers, we might need new reloading data for those primers.

Keeping fingers crossed on this one. The current primer situation is a bleak outlook for us reloaders. I cant remember when the last time was that I saw large rifle primers for sale anywhere except by scalpers.

If anyone is interested I just learned that a LGS has several thousand 209 primers that he is selling at reasonable cost.

I would take you up on that, but I'm a long ways away from Michigan.

I saw large quantities of many types of primers Monday at Bass Pro @ Ankeny Iowa.

The catch.....

No bricks of 1k...only 100 count
Limit 200 per customer
Then....eleven bucks per 100 plus tax per 100

seems to me anyone having problems with them just ain't taking the time to make sure they are bottomed out in the pocket.

too many fire on the second strike.

that outfit in Texas never intended to make any primers.
their entire company history is one of making money for the owners and not returning on their promises.
they could probably have made 20-50 times as much money actually making and selling primers, but that'd have required a little time.

their way is a few million now, and away we go.

Not primers, but we were also told that Estes of Colorado model rocket fame would have the old Goex plant in Louisiana back on line in time to produce powder early in 2023. I hope this is the real deal, but haven't heard any updates since late last winter when it was confirmed they bought Goex from Hodgdon.
