The rifle is a Ruger M77 MKII SS with a Shilen #3 1-10" Twist cut to 23" and mounted in a McMillan RED,White and Blue stock.........I didn't like the A-Square moniker so I went with Patriot.

I started with RL15 and Barnes 210gr TSX's and put together 4 rounds of each 50-53gr in 1/2gr increments.

What would you do based on the target data below? Would you play with the COL? The bullet is touching the lands at 3.370" and I went with 3.355"

Any input is appreciated.

I guess you could call it shit-on-a-shingle if you wanted. But Lazzeroni came up with Patriot first.

Won't the next owner find it confusing?

They shouldn't since it will not be sold and only passed down.......Patriot is the name of the rifle and not the chambering. Also, I was aware of the Lazzeroni and actually owned 1 for a bit.

Just drop the moniker all together, nothing wrong w/ 338-06.
You might try the TSX alittle farther OFF the lands. They tend to like a headstart for best accuracy. Also try the 210grNP. It's one of the most accurate bullets out of my 338-06. I also like RL15, it's been my go to powder, but try H4350 as well. It's proven even more uniform in my rifle & gives good vel. w/ slightly lower pressure.

Fred,

I just went with Patriot to go along with the theme of the stock. I plan on keeping this one so didn't really care about future owners.....A chamber cast would answer anyone's questions if It did fall into someone else's hands.

Thanks for the load info. All of my other TSX loadings for my 7/08,257R,30/06,7RM etc...are between .030 and .050 off the lands. I think I'm going to load up 9 51gr rounds .050 off and 9 53 gr loads .050 off and give that a try.

I would try some more powders. I would also not bother with 1/2 grain increments. Go with one grain increments. When you find the powder the gun likes you will know it.
