Has anyone here found federal match brass to be soft? And if so how did you compare it to others.I am trying federal match to see if I can get better accuracy by using so called match brass. I am just wondering if it is in name only.

Thanks

I have no first hand experience with the so called "match" brass, however I layed a supply of Federal .300 Wby. brass before Federal ceased to sell it as component. I have loaded some pretty stout combinations with this brass and have never had any signs that it is soft. The 50 that I am currently using have all been reloaded six to seven times with no case separations or split necks. My standard load used is a 200 gr. Partition at 3050 fps which is stout! In fact I would say that it is as hard as the Rem and Wby. headstamp brass I have also used.

I bought some in .30-06 ofr my .338-06. It seems a bit softer than WW, but I have 5-6 loadings w/o excessive stretch or neck cracking (from necking up). They seem to be more uniform in weight than RP or WW (FWIW).
