Bought a Savage 11g last week. Was paging thu the instruction manual and found that they had listed their 100 yard accuracy testing bullets on page 17. Was surprised to see that my .223 was tested with the big, honkin', 69gr Sierra Matchking HPBT when a 22-250 is tested with a piddly 40gr Sierra Varminter HP! Figure it might be helpful, if I listed these for those who might care to try the "factory recommended" bullet. 220 Swift- 52gr Sierra Matchking 223 Rem - 69gr Sierra Matchking 22-250 - 40gr Sierra Varminter HP 243 Win - 95gr Nosler BT 25-06 - 90gr Sierra GameKing 260 Rem - 120gr Nosler BT 270 Win - 130gr Nosler BT 7mm-08 - 140gr Nosler BT 7mm Rem Mag - 150gr Nosler BT 7mm Rem Ultra - 140gr Nosler Partition 7mm STW - 140gr Swift A frame 7X64mm BR - 177gr Torpedo 7.82 Patriot Laz - 180gr Nosler Partition (Moly) 300 Win Mag - 180gr Nosler BT 300 Rem Ultra - 180gr Nosler BT 300 Win Short Mag - 150gr Nosler BT 308 Win - 168gr Sierra MatchKing 30-06 - 168gr Sierra MatchKing 338 Win Mag - 210gr Nosler Partition 375 H&H - 300gr PSP Swift A-Frame 458 Win Mag - 510gr Soft Point (of no particular manufacture apparently) [ 09-29-2003, 10:50: Message edited by: badgerrr ]

Your 223 has a much faster rifling twist to handle the heavier bullets. Sean
