I had a couple of loads for my guns built around the H870 powder. Unfortunately Hodgdon is doing away with 870. Is there a big difference in burning rate between these two? Has anyone worked with both that can shed some light? Thanx

Hi POP - I've used both in my 7RMag with 160's/175's, and, the lot of Accurate 8700 was about 2 grains slower than that lot of H870. Wasn't near as dirty, either. R-WEST

Thanx Steve. It does act differently pending on caliber though. I did notice that!

I've had some major issues with H1000. It's faster than posted here and on Steve's pages. Here's what Hodgdon says: "According to our burn rate chart, H1000 is faster than RL25, Faster than 8700 and just slower than 7828 but, you should keep in mind, that burn rate may change with application.
