I finally chronographed my hornet after not using it for a few years. I had estimated the velocity at around 2720~2740fps. It clocked 2748fps! Trouble is, I've lost the load data. I do know it's not less than 13.7gr but it could be 13.9gr although I think it's actually 13.8gr. It's a bit tricky loading this amount. One has to use R-P cases. I compress the powder down to seating depth with a ram tool in my press and it needs to be accurate. That step may not be necessary with neck sized cases but I don't neck size. It's an accurate and hard hitting load, just licking at the heels of the 222 Remington. Not bad for such a tiny cartridge. Very efficient cartridge. My cases last forever (or until they get lost in the long grass!) The rifle is an Anschutz 1431/32 which is designed for the 222 Remington. It has a 1-in-16 twist .223 bore. I use .224 Hornady spire-points and Federal SR primers. Regards 303Guy

Very nice speeds for a Hornet. I have an accuracy load of 11.7gr Lilgun under a Sierra 52gr HPBTM, which clocks at 2,650fps. I don't think you can get enough Lilgun into a Hornet case, or use a heavy enough bullet, to cause pressure issues.
