I have some 350 grn cast bullets I'd like to try in my 9.5x57. I cant find anything for a bullet that heavy. Does anybody have any experiance, or suggestions of where to start for a load?

I have a Mannlicher Schoenauer in 9.5X57 but I would not try anything larger than a 260 or 270 gr bullet at 2200 fps. The 350 gr would probably do 1400 fps or so I guess.

This is in a mauser 98, so strength and magazine length isnt an issue.

Keep the cartridge over all length to standard. With the smaller boiler room you can fill it with H4350 100% without any danger.

What type of brass are you using? 9.5x56/57 Mannlicher-Schoenauer? Standard 8x57mm Mauser brass simply necked up?

I have and use 9.5x56/57 M/S. It is by Horneber, and is great brass. It is not robust enough, however, to load the bullet out until limited by the lands and then stuffing the case full of 4350, Varget or RL-15.

Hopefully the lead is brinell 16 to 19, and you are using a gas check.

I will be interested to hear of your results.
