I have acquired a 280 rcbs imp. I have some off the shelf 280 Rem. ammo that I would like to use to fire form the imp. brass -- is this safe and would they be accurate if I shot them at hogs, etc. I'm new to this form and would appreciate your help. Thanks Never with a live man, dead woman or a wet dog.

If the chamber is cut correctly there should be a slight crush fit with regular brass thus factory ammo should work fine. No need to seat bullets out into the lands with a proper chamber. The RCBS just has a different shoulder angle than the AI version. If the chamber was cut correctly factory ammo should be a crush fit as stated. You should have plenty of accuracy to hunt with. I've had fireforming loads so accurate I've had to work to match it with formed brass. As usual just my $.02 Paul K

That is "supposed" to be one of the advantages of the AI. You can use off the shelf ammo in a pinch with just a little loss of velocity. If it'll fit in the chamber, lite it off................................ (might want to have someone you don't particulary like try the first couple, snicker, grin )
